| COSTA MESA, CA (June 12, 2009) - The 2009 OC Super Fair will debut a new themed attraction and exhibit on the human brain called “Al’s Brain – A 3-D Journey Through The Human Brain with ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic.” The attraction will be free with admission to the Fair and open to visitors during all operating hours throughout the Fair’s full run, July 10 – August 9.
In the grand tradition of fairs and expos, “Al’s Brain” combines entertainment and education in its exploration of this universal subject. “This is the first time an attraction of this scope and magnitude has been created for a fair, by a fair,” according to Steve Beazley, CEO of the OC Fair.
To achieve its goal, the Fair is utilizing the many talents of one of its most popular entertainers in its 117-year history, 3-time Grammy-winning recording artist “Weird Al” Yankovic. “Al has been thrilling sold-out concert audiences here for many years,” said Beazley, “and who better to bring a sense of fun and irreverence to such a deep and mysterious subject matter.”
The centerpiece of the attraction is an original 10-minute 3-D movie about the brain written by, directed by and starring “Weird Al”. The movie features a new brain-themed song and his first-ever 3-D music video.
More than 400,000 fairgoers are expected to visit the “Al’s Brain” attraction at the OC Fair in 2009, after which it will travel to other fairs, festivals and science centers throughout the world. Yankovic’s longtime manager, Jay Levey, originally conceived of the attraction and serves as its producer.
“Weird Al” Yankovic is the most successful comedy recording artist in history. His latest album “Straight Outta Lynwood” debuted in Billboard’s Top 10, while the video for its Platinum-selling first single “White & Nerdy” spent eight weeks at the No. 1 position on the iTunes chart and was viewed over 90 million times on the Internet |
