| Costa Mesa, Calif. (July 22, 2009) – A seemingly endless variety of fun foods awaits those visiting the 2009 OC Super Fair. Vendors selling everything from giant turkey legs to deep-fried S’mores are stationed around the Fair. The OC Super Fair runs from July 10 – August 9 and is closed Monday and Tuesday. For more information, please visit ocfair.com.
Any and all deep-fried fantasies will be satisfied at this year’s Fair. Deep-fried frog legs, Oreos, S’mores, and Twinkies are back and are joined by two newcomers: deep-fried pizza bites and the Zucchini Weeni, a hot dog stuffed inside a zucchini, dipped in batter, and deep fried, on a stick of course.
For those with a sweet tooth, chocolate covered bacon is this year’s trendsetting treat. The coated bacon is served frozen for crunchy, sweet-salty snacking. For a heaping helping of sweetness, the Jumbo Mexican Funnel Cake serves up a mass of fried Churro dough, whipped cream, and strawberries. Finish one alone in less than 20 minutes and your funnel cake is free! Chocolate-dipped cheesecake on a stick, massive corn dogs and Texas-sized donuts are also available to fulfill any cravings.
Always a curious sight, the Fat Darrel sandwich is served on a huge hoagie bun and filled with fried chicken or beef strips, French fries, mozzarella sticks and coleslaw. The Ultimate Ten Pound Bun Pizza will accomplish the same feat as the Fat Darrel: a large slice of sourdough bread piled high with the pizza toppings of your choice.
Visitors looking for healthier eats will not be disappointed. Tofu-veggie bowls are new this year, as are grilled fish and Hawaiian Ahi Poke. Fresh fruit, grilled corn, hummus and pita, and a variety of salads can also be found on concession menus. Not only can visitors eat healthy at the Fair, they can exercise too. A 5K run series goes through the Fair before the gates op |
